About Knights of St. John International

Roman Catholic Union of the Knights of St. John Circa 1897

The Knights of St. John International (KSJI) is a Catholic fraternal organization with a rich history. Founded in 1879 by the Venerable Brother James Bonaventure Coyle, the order originated in Mobile, Alabama, USA. Its primary mission is to promote spiritual growth, charity, and fraternity among its members, while also contributing to the broader community. The order takes inspiration from the historical Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, an ancient Christian military order that played a significant role during the medieval period. The modern KSJI, however, is a non-military organization that focuses on charitable works, community service, and fostering a sense of brotherhood among its members. Over the years, the Knights of St. John International has expanded globally, with councils and assemblies established in various countries. The organization emphasizes the principles of faith, unity, and charity. Members are encouraged to engage in charitable activities, support the Church, and uphold the values of Catholicism. While the Knights of St. John International is rooted in Catholic traditions, it has evolved to address contemporary issues and challenges. The organization continues to be active in supporting various charitable causes, promoting Catholic values, and fostering a sense of community among its members.

About KSJI Port Harcourt

Who we are We are a family apostolate and a fraternal organization in the Roman Catholic Church; incorporated in New York, United States of America on May 6, 1886 and came to Nigeria in 1976. KSJI exists in all the Catholic Dioceses in Nigeria under the supervision of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), mainly to propagate and defend the Christian faith as presented by the Catholic Church.
