WHEN PURPOSEFUL LEADERSHIP ATTRACTS: THE REGISTRAR OF CIWA EMBRACES KSJI

2026 Fraternal Journey of the Port Harcourt Grand 9

It is a profound truth that when leadership is defined by clear purpose and vision, it naturally attracts genuine followership. The Port Harcourt Grand (PHG) Commandery of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) witnessed a beautiful manifestation of this truth during our just-concluded July initiation, as we welcomed a highly esteemed cleric into our ranks.

Drawn by the discipline, spiritual depth, and purposeful direction of the Grand Commandery, the Registrar of the Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA), Port Harcourt, joined the July diet of aspirants and was successfully initiated into the Noble Order.

What truly captured the hearts of everyone, however, was the extraordinary humility and great sense of humor displayed by the Reverend Father throughout the rigorous process.

Stripping Away Worldly Titles. The initiation camp at Stella Maris College is designed to be a great leveler, teaching discipline and equality before God. The CIWA Registrar fully immersed himself in this reality. He spent the entire three nights in the camp, joyfully sleeping on a basic 6-spring dormitory bed.

He was not alone in this profound display of humility. Sharing this same dormitory space, on the exact same 6-spring beds, were Managing Directors, Chief Executive Officers, and top government leaders. For three days, all worldly titles, corporate accolades, and political statuses were entirely left at the gate. They were simply brothers, united in faith, undergoing the same rigorous spiritual awakening.

At Stella Maris College, the uniform of humility replaced the garments of societal status. It was a true testament that at the foot of the Cross, we are all equal.

This remarkable level of simplicity and brotherhood is exactly what makes the Knights of St. John International unique. It reaffirms that our initiation is not a mere social gathering, but a genuine spiritual bootcamp.

We are incredibly proud of our new brothers. To see priests, CEOs, and government officials embrace the strict discipline of the Order is a powerful reminder of who we are: Soldiers of Christ, serving with absolute dignity.

March on, Port Harcourt Grand!
