Members of the Port Harcourt Grand Commandery of the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) have arrived in the United States to join delegates from across the world for the 83rd International, 57th Biennial Convention, being held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Airport Hotel, New Jersey.

The week-long gathering, which runs from 2nd to 9th August 2026, is being held jointly with the 62nd International Convention of the Ladies Auxiliary under the theme, “Peace, Unity and Love.”

Leading the Port Harcourt delegation is the Grand President, Brig. Gen. P.M.C. Okeke. He is accompanied by former Grand Presidents, including Brig. Gen. Ekwelibe, Brig. Gen. Ufuoma Okene and Brig. Gen. George Okiomouton.

Port Harcourt Grand on the International Stage

Speaking on its participation, the Commandery noted that the presence of its delegation underscores its commitment to the growth, mission and international vision of the Noble Order.

In demonstration of the spiritual foundation of the Knights of St. John International, members of the Port Harcourt contingent were present in large numbers for Holy Mass on the opening day of the convention.

The convention, described as the highest international gathering of KSJI and the Ladies Auxiliary, has brought together Supreme Officers, Grand Officers and delegates from different jurisdictions to deliberate on the future and continued growth of the Order.

A Week of Faith, Leadership and Fraternity

Throughout the week, participants are expected to engage in International Supreme Council sessions, committee meetings, leadership conferences, daily Masses, spiritual reflections, workshops and ceremonial processions.

The programme also features cultural exchanges, fraternal gatherings and the recognition of outstanding service within the Order.

For the Ladies Auxiliary, the 62nd International Convention provides a similar opportunity for spiritual enrichment, leadership development and renewed commitment to service in the Church and society.

Renewed Commitment to the Mission of the Order

The Port Harcourt Grand Commandery expressed hope that the deliberations and resolutions arising from the convention will strengthen the Order, deepen the faith of members and inspire greater dedication to the service of God, the Catholic Church and humanity.

The Commandery also extended prayers for a successful and spiritually enriching convention, noting that the theme, “Peace, Unity and Love,” should guide all proceedings and strengthen the bonds of fraternity among members across the world.

May the convention bear lasting fruits of faith, unity, wisdom and service for the entire Noble Order.
