PHC Grand Education Committee Inspires NFCS UNIPORT Students at Dinner and Award Night
The Nigerian Federation of Catholic Students (NFCS), University of Port Harcourt Chapter, held its Dinner and Award Night on 21st August 2026 at the Hall of the Chapel of Annunciation Chaplaincy.
The event commenced at 6.00 pm, against the scheduled time of 5.00 pm.
In attendance from the Knights of St. John International (KSJI) were members of the Port Harcourt Grand Education Committee, as well as members of the host Commandery and Ladies Auxiliary (LAUX).
Among the activities of the evening was a talk delivered by Sir Anthony Agbakwuru, KSJI, Chairman of the Port Harcourt Grand Education Committee.
He began by conveying the greetings of the Port Harcourt Grand President, Brig. Gen. P.M.C. Okeke, and the Grand Respected President, Lady Theresa Barong Akugbo.
The theme of the talk was “You Are Ambassadors of Christ.”
In his presentation, Sir Agbakwuru explained to the students that an ambassador of Christ is a representative of Christ. According to him, being an ambassador of Christ on campus is a call to live out the faith.
He highlighted the following, among others, as requirements and evidence of being an ambassador of Christ on campus:
Knowing the faith
Character building
Overcoming pressures
Striving for excellence with sincere effort
Diligent service
Active participation in Church activities
He emphasised that NFCS members must be seen to perform well academically in order to show the world that it is possible to worship God faithfully and still excel in temporal matters.
The Chairman of the Education Committee, on behalf of the Grand President, also announced a donation of ₦100,000 in support of the NFCS.
He further informed the students that other activities involving additional NFCS chapters are being worked out by the Committee.
The NFCS President, Miss Faustina Nneoma Umeh, on behalf of the students, expressed joy and appreciation for the presence of members of the Knights of St. John International and for the donation made in support of the association.
The engagement further demonstrated the commitment of the Port Harcourt Grand Commandery to the spiritual, moral and educational development of Catholic students, while encouraging them to remain faithful witnesses of Christ both on campus and in society.
